Center for Mark Twain Studies Offers Travel Grant for “Humor in America 2018” in Chicago
The quadrennial conference co-sponsored by the American Humor Studies Association and the Mark Twain Circle of America will be held at Roosevelt University in Chicago from July 12-15, 2018. Please check out the Call for Papers at the conference website for complete information about submissions, registration, accommodations, etc.
For the first time in 2018, the Center for Mark Twain Studies is offering a $500 grant to support travel and registration for a graduate student or emerging scholar presenting at the conference. The award will be distributed to eligible participants selected by conference organizers Larry Howe (Roosevelt U.), Tracy Wuster (UT-Austin), and Pete Kunze (UT-Austin). The conference also has its own graduate travel awards honoring Constance Rourke. All questions related to the conference can be directed to them at [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2018.
The Center for Mark Twain Studies is committed to supporting scholarship on Mark Twain, American Humor, and related fields. Our “Humor in America 2018” travel grant is part of a concerted effort to encourage young, original voices interested in Mark Twain Studies. Applicants may also be interested in our annual Quarry Farm Fellowships, three of which are reserved for emerging scholars.
Much gratitude to AHSA and the Mark Twain Circle for hosting this exciting, interdisciplinary conference.
