The American Literature Association is hosting a symposium on “The American Novel: Forms, Genres, and Traditions” in Santa Fe on November 5-7, 2026. We have a great hotel in the best location in Santa Fe, and I am committed to putting together a fabulous program. Our keynote speaker is Professor Shirley Samuels who will be talking about “A Theory of American Women and the Novel.”
We welcome proposals for papers, panels, and roundtables exploring any aspect of the American Novel and encourage presentations that enlarge our understanding of the American novel’s formal experiments, cultural backgrounds, and social and political engagements.
