CFP: American Humor Studies Association at ALA 2025 in Boston, MA (May 21-24, 2025)
Please see the following CFP for ALA 2025:
As the new co-presidents of AHSA, we (Teresa Prados-Torreira and Jim Caron) are preparing an official call-for-papers for the American Literature Association (ALA) conference in May 2025.
AHSA plans to offer two panels, as usual. We would like your help in shaping them.
One panel, to be labeled “New Directions,” will give priority to emerging scholars— untenured faculty, newly-minted PhDs, and graduate students writing dissertations.
If you know a PhD recently graduated from your program, or if you are currently directing a relevant dissertation, won’t you please encourage them to submit a proposal and/or contact us? If you are an untenured faculty, please consider participating.
We want to remind everyone that AHSA has in place a mentoring program to help emerging scholars prepare an essay for publication. Presenting at ALA can be the first step to being published.
The second panel at the moment does not have a specific topic. We would be interested in hearing from the membership about relevant topics that we can consider.
Anyone with questions about the “New Directions” panel should contact us at any time.
If you have possible topics for the second panel, contact us by the second week of November.
We must submit our panels with topics to ALA by December 1.
The deadline for proposals for both panels will be January 15, 2025.
